Etsy Dallas Rebrands as Handmade DFW Collective to Expand Community Impact and Embrace the Future of Handmade

DALLAS, TX – [January 16, 2025] – After nearly two decades of championing the handmade movement in North Texas, the Etsy Dallas community grew beyond Etsy, we became Dallas M.A.D.E. in 2025.

But we quickly realized that our makers, artists, and small businesses span across North Texas, so we’re stepping into a name that truly fits.

We are now Handmade DFW Collective! Same heart. Same mission. Just more room for our growing handmade community.

Originally founded in 2007 by Stephanie Hindall and Pamela Dowdy as the official Dallas Etsy street team for Etsy.com sellers, the group quickly grew into a vital creative force—producing signature shopping events, supporting local makers, and offering a welcoming space for connection and growth. The new name reflects both where the organization started and where it's going.

“We are incredibly proud of our roots as an Etsy street team,” says Jenny Sivie, President of Dallas M.A.D.E. “That foundation gave us the spark. But we’re now stepping into a bigger, bolder role—one that opens the doors to makers of all kinds, no matter where they sell their work.”

The rebrand to Handmade DFW Collective (aka Handmade DFW) allows the organization to broaden its partnerships with other creative platforms, national craft brands, and local institutions and expand to other North Texas locations where many of our supporters and vendors live, while remaining true to its founding mission: to uplift the handmade movement and empower independent artisans, crafters, and creators.

In addition to its beloved handmade shopping markets, Handmade DFW is bringing back many of the cherished programs paused during the pandemic, including:

  • Community crafting and charity events

  • Educational workshops

  • Business training for makers and small business owners

With new energy, new leadership members, and an expanded vision, Handmade DFW invites makers, supporters, and creative minds from across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex to join in building the next era of handmade.
